GCAA teams with Challenger Sports to offer weekly Professional Training for Players

Challenger Clinic

GCAA Soccer is excited to offer a great opportunity for our players this Fall. We have teamed with Challenger Sports to offer a weekly training session with a British trainer who has a wealth of experience working with kids of all ages and abilities as well as working with A.C. Milan (a prestigious Italian soccer club).

Over the summer several GCAA players participated in a week-long summer camp offered by Challenger Sports British Soccer Camps. All of these kids had a great time and improved their soccer skills while doing it. Based on the quality of this summer came, we expect these training camps to be phenomenal.

These sessions will be held on the GCAA campus each Friday afternoon for 6 weeks during our regular soccer season. Please be aware that these training session will be held at the same time that some teams will have practice which may limit your child's ability to participate in this training.

The sessions will be primarily focused on improving individual ball control skills. The training is $60... that's only $10 per session. Registrations are very limited so sign up fast. Please note that this training is open to Rec AND Challenge players.

Please see the link below for full details and how to register.

GCAA Rec Soccer plays by the "small-sided" games rules as defined by USYSA (US Youth Soccer Association) and by NCYSA (NC Youth Soccer Association).  We believe these rules and guidelines make the soccer experience for your child (and the adults) more enjoyable and helps all of them to become better soccer players. For more details about our Rec Soccer program click on "Rec Soccer League" menu item on the left of this page or click on "Printable Docs" for some more information about small-sided games. You may also visit the NCYSA website and review details of why small-sided games are a good idea and what is involved. The following are a few highlights including some of the bigger changes:

Rec Soccer Important Dates (some dates subject to change):

  • August 23 (Monday) - First Possible Day of Practice
  • September 4 (Saturday) - Labor Day Weekend - Optional Saturday Practice
  • September 11 (Saturday) - First Game
  • September 25 (Saturday) - Soccer Team/Individual Pics
  • October 30 (Saturday) - Last Game

In the Fall we do not sponsor a festival or tournament. Therefore some of our U10 and older teams may be invited to participate in tournaments/festivals at other local organizations at the conclusion of our regular season in early November. For teams that would like to participate there will be a team fee to be paid to the other organization when registering for those.

SPONSORS

Sponsors are very important to the success of GCAA. Sponsors receive high recognition throughout the year. Visitors to the games and to our website are encouraged to support GCAA sponsors. Seasonal sponsor funds are needed for general operating expenses, which include maintaining the gym and playing fields, liability and casualty insurance, equipment, and paying qualified game officials. In order to keep pace with our rapidly growing community, corporate sponsor funds are critically needed for capital improvements such as lighting existing playing fields, building restroom facilities, building additional ball fields, refinishing the gym floor, providing scoreboards and bleachers, and various other facility improvements.
