A Note from our Director of Coaching
about Coaches Training
Ladies and Gentlemen,
In the Summer of 2008 we hosted an NCYSA Youth Module I, an NCYSA Youth Module II, and an NCYSA "E" License course. These couses were a great success, with many of our Rec and Challenge coaches attending them.
I have been talking with the director of coaching for the NCYSA and we will continue to have coaching courses at our facility in the future. Please plan to attend as many of these programs as you can.
In order for GCAA to improve our development of soccer players we must be seeking opportunities to learn how to be better prepared to teach the game of soccer. As we teach our players to be better players they will naturally enjoy the game more and you will be providing them the chance to learn to LOVE the game. As our children come to love the game they will naturally be more interested in learning the positive characteristics of fair play, good sportsmanship, hard work and dedication, improved self esteem and leadership.
In the future we may offer incentives to coaches who have obtained coaching certificate and licenses by attending courses. These incentives may include coaching supplies, free or reduced price coach jerseys, discounted registration for the coach's child, etc. We will offer this in hopes that it will serve as even a bit more motivation for coaches to get proper training which will improve the coaches' experience as well as the players they coach.
I hope that 2009 will be a year that we dedicate to learning more of the game, teaching more of the game and coaching less within the game.
Please contact me if you have any questions or comments.
Joel Tucker
GCAA Director of Soccer Training
