Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the common questions about the GCAA Online Registration, GCAA Programs, and Online Accounts. If you have other questions not answered here or elsewhere on the site, please email this site's webmaster at info@gcaasoccer.com.

What is the GCAA Refund Policy?

  • Refund requests are only valid before your child is placed on a team (typically designated as "draft day"). Refunds are issued minus a $10 administration fee.
  • No refunds shall be granted for any reason once you child has been placed on a team. Losing interest, schedule conflicts with other activities, and/or changing clubs are not valid reasons for requesting a refund.
  • All refund requests must be submitted in writing by mail to the GCAA Board of Directors and will be reviewed. Refund requests may take 6 to 8 weeks to process. Approved refunds will be issued by check and mailed to you.
  • No fees, or any part thereof shall be refunded in the event of suspension of a player for disciplinary reasons, nor for temporary or permanent suspension due to unforeseen emergencies or injuries.

When is my Pay-by-Check due and where do I pay it?

We no longer accept check payments for soccer. If you selected the Pay-by-Check payment option when registering for a program you must either log back into your account before registrations close and pay with a credit card or you must attend a scheduled Walk-In Registration time for the selected program. Typically the Walk-In Registrations are held in the "Ag building" which is the main classroom building located behind the gym on the GCAA campus. The Walk-In Registration times and locations will be posted on this website. You must pay with cash or by credit card during the Walk-In Registration. However, you will still be required to use this website to register your child. We only have a few computers available at the Walk-In Registration times for parents to use to register their child(ren). Therefore, these Walk-In Registrations tend to be very busy so we encourage you to pay online with a credit card when registering.

Can my child and their friend be on the same team and/or request a specific coach?

Our team creation policy is that we reset and create all new teams for each Fall season. Those teams are then kept together if at all possible for the following Spring season (thus completing 1 soccer year). In the U10 and up leagues (where currently there is a coach draft for each team) it is not possible for us to keep teams together from soccer year to year. Each year the individual coaches select the players that will be on their team. Each coach has his/her own child(ren) automatically assigned to his/her team.  Also, any siblings playing in the same league are placed on the same team.

In the U8 and below leagues the teams are created by a "blind" draft (i.e. the Rec Soccer Chairperson or the individual League Directors will use our registration program to create teams). We try to keep all teams balanced in ages and genders for each team throughout the leagues. Normally, we also believe that it adds to each child's experience and development if they experience different coaches and teammates, much how children continue to learn new things (especially social and behavioral skills) by having different teachers and different classmates each year in school. Our soccer program is as much about learning soccer as it is about learning teamwork, sportsmanship, and citizenship. All of these things combined contribute to our philosophy of "player development". However, with that being said, we will try to honor requests for our non-draft leagues but can not guarantee any specific team assignments for any player. Thank you for understanding.

When will my child's team practice and play their games?

Typically team practice schedules are finalized on draft day. Practice days are normally decided amongst the coaches of the leagues. Most teams will practice twice per week leading up to the first game (one weeknight and one Saturday practice). Once games begin, each team will practice once per week. Practices normally start one week following draft day. Game schedules will usually be published and available on our schedule pages soon after draft day. Schedule availability and posting may vary if your team is a travel team that plays teams other than GCAA sponsored teams.

Where will my child's team practice and play their games?

Practice locations can vary from season to season depending on field availability and conditions. We try to avoid using our game fields for practice. Our current practice locations include GCAA campus, C3 Church, Cleveland Elementary, and West View Elementary. Your child's coach will inform you of the practice times and location before the first practice. We also post the practice schedule on the Printable Docs page of our website.
